Aka Maru Class
The Aka Maru Class (赤丸型 Aka Maru-gata) was a class of five gunboats in the early Imperial Japanese Navy. They were built to guard the ports of Kure and Sasebo, where they spent their whole career.

Design
The Aka Maru Class is a shorter, but wider type of ship, with 12,3間 of length and a width of 2,8間. It has a complement of 11 sailors and one officer, which is made easier by the use of a junk sail. It carries four 8斤-Naval Muzzleloaders as armament, as well as any personal weapons of the crew.
